[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to Shiloh Christian School for burning speaker.

Around 1:30 PM on Friday, August 10, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a speaker fire in the ceiling area of the gymnasium at Shiloh Christian School in Bismarck.  The first arriving crew gave an initial report of nothing showing, that the building was being evacuated, established command, and went in to investigate.  There was a dance competition going on and the parking lot was full of vehicles.  Investigation found a speaker that was burning.  On site maintenance used a dry chemical fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire.  Gymnasium had smoke and the powder from the fire extinguisher in it.  Firefighting crews used high pressure fans to remove smoke from the structure.  Secondary units arrived and assisted with ventilation.  Fourteen fire suppression people were dispatched to the scene.  There were no injuries.  Bismarck PD assisted.  Metro Area Ambulance stood by but were not needed.  Damage estimates are approximately $5000.
