The cities of Bismarck and Mandan in cooperation with the Metropolitan Planning Organization have contracted with Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA) to collect traffic data in the Bismarck/Mandan area.
Starting Monday, September 24, Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA) will be conducting traffic counts in the Bismarck-Mandan area. They will be deploying various types of data collection devices across both cities throughout the week.
Their personnel may need to enter into traffic lanes to place the data collection units. Personnel will be wearing fluorescent yellow green apparel and vehicles will display the company logo and be equipped with flashing yellow warning lights.
Drivers are asked to slowdown in the deployment areas and be watchful for personnel.
Equipment will consist of hose tubes stretched across roadways in the traffic lanes and video cameras mounted on traffic signals and sign posts at intersections. The installation of equipment should not disrupt traffic flow.
The data collection process should take about a week. On Friday, September 28, all equipment will be taken down.
