[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department Hosts Fire Prevention Month Poster Contest

Fire Prevention 2018

The Bismarck Fire Department is hosting a Fire Safety Poster contest during Fire Prevention Month through October 26, highlighting the theme "LOOK. LISTEN. LEARN. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.” This year’s campaign, works to educate people about three basic but essential steps to take to reduce the likelihood of having a fire—and how to escape safely in the event of one.

The poster contest is open to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. The students are invited to submit their entries to the Headquarters Fire Station located at 1020 Central Avenue, Bismarck, by 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 26. All posters submitted will be judged and selected recipients notified by the end of the day on Monday, October 29.

The first place award recipient of each grade level will receive a ride to school in a fire truck, a gift certificate to McDonalds, their poster returned to them in a frame, and a first place ribbon. Second and third place award recipients of each grade level will receive a gift certificate to McDonalds, their posters returned to them in a frame and a second place ribbon.

“We have a lot of talented students in the area. The poster contest gives the students a fun opportunity to learn and express their ideas on the theme each year with some help from their families,” said Fire Marshal Owen Fitzsimmons.
