The City of Bismarck will host an interactive Town Hall meeting Nov. 1, from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the Bismarck State College National Energy Center of Excellence, Bavendick Stateroom #415, 1200 Schafer Street, Bismarck.

The interactive Town Hall Meeting provides an opportunity for citizens to take part and to help shape the future of Bismarck by becoming engaged in the process. The City Commission seeks to engage the public in the strategic plan update in a variety of different ways. To date, these include focus group meetings and the collection of thoughts and citizen input through a Vision and Values survey that asks citizens about where they think Bismarck should strive to be in 20 years. The Commission has also held several public meetings and interacted with many people at the Street Fair.

“Through all of this input we’ve begun to get a sense of the community vision that sets the ultimate target for the strategic plan. Updating the Strategic Plan is all about aligning the efforts and resources of the City of Bismarck with the vision established by the community through this process,” said Jason Gray, JDGray Group LLC. The Town Hall meeting will provide another opportunity for citizens to participate in finalizing the vision before it is brought to the City Commission for approval.

At the Town Hall meeting, a representative from JDGray Group LLC, the consultant hired to update the plan, will present the “Big Ideas” and the “Envisioned Future” that they’ve heard so far. Together, a variety of alternate scenarios will be developed to determine what is truly important to the community and to collectively think through some of the strategies and tradeoffs required to put action to the vision. “You’re invited to take part and help us determine the future of Bismarck. Come to get the latest updates on the strategic plan and help us shape the community vision and strategic focus areas,” said Jason Tomanek, Assistant City Administrator.

All Bismarck citizens are encouraged to attend. Anyone who is a stakeholder in the community including business owners, future citizens, property owners, etc. are invited to take part.
