[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to third trailer home fire in 5 days

At approximately 10:14 AM on Thursday, October 25, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of a fire at a residence on the 600 block of South 9th Street.  The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to investigate.  The first arriving fire crew reported a trailer home with smoke showing from the exterior.  The fire crew established command, and made contact with persons on scene who reported that everyone was out of the home.  The fire crew conducted a scene size-up and found smoke inside the trailer home.  The fire crew deployed a hose line and went in to investigate.  Fire crews found the fire in the laundry area of the trailer.  Once the fire was extinguished, fire crews conducted an overhaul operation to find and extinguish any smoldering materials.  When the overhaul operation was complete the trailer home was ventilated and a fire investigation was conducted.

Three fire department apparatus and eight firefighters were dispatched to the scene.  Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control.  Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide medical support.  MDU was called to the scene to secure utilities.

This fire occurred in a vacant trailer home.  A cleaning crew was working inside the trailer when they noticed smoke.  They went to look for the source of the smoke and found a fire behind an electric dryer. The cleaning crew immediately evacuated the building and called 911. 

There were no injuries to the cleaning crew.  There were no injuries to first responders.  Fire damage was limited to the laundry area.  The fire originated in the laundry area of the home and the cause has been classified as undetermined.
