[ARCHIVED] Fire Prevention Week October 6-12, 2019. “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and Practice your Escape

The Bismarck Fire Department invites the community to participate in Fire Prevention Week, October 6-12, 2019.  This year’s campaign, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” works to educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.

Would you and your family members know what to do in a real fire situation?

•    Today’s homes burn faster than ever. You may have as little as two minutes to escape     safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds.

•    Home escape planning and practice ensure that everyone knows what to do in a fire and is     prepared to escape quickly and safely.

•    Test your smoke alarms monthly and change the batteries twice a year. There should be one     on every level, in each bedroom, and near all sleeping areas.

•    It’s too late to start making a plan when the smoke alarm sounds in a real fire.

Plan ahead for your escape.  Make your home escape plan and practice today.
