Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health (BBPH) has scheduled free COVID-19 testing events open to anyone in the community on Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM in the BBPH parking lot at 500 E. Front Avenue in Bismarck.
“The positive response we received from our first week piloting community COVID-19 testing in our parking lot has been incredible,” said BBPH Director Renae Moch. “We initially estimated that our testing events would be smaller with less than 100 people per day since there are other testing options in the community and these events were scheduled for just an hour and a half, but the turnout for all three days surpassed our expectations proving there’s definitely a demand for COVID-19 testing in this community,” Moch said. “We tested 662 individuals this first week during 4.5 hours of testing time (1.5 hours per day). I could not be prouder of the team at BBPH. We’ve come together to offer this service utilizing only City of Bismarck staff from Public Health and the Police Department. We made process improvements each day to run lines most efficiently and hosted 3 very successful testing events this week.”
Due to those times being very well received, testing event hours of operation for the two upcoming events will remain from 11 AM to 12:30 PM. Vehicles must enter the BBPH parking lot from Front Avenue for testing and exit the parking lot on 5th Street upon completion. A walk-up testing option will also be available along the east building entrance.
Online registration will now be offered for the upcoming testing events, though preregistration is not required to be tested. Individuals who want to expedite their testing experience can pre-register for either day via the following links:
• Monday, June 29
• Tuesday, June 30
“Please note this pre-registration option and URL is different from what the North Dakota Department of Health’s testing events were using for the mass testing events in Bismarck and across the state of North Dakota,” said Moch. “We have had some individuals arrive at our testing events, thinking they could use the state’s pre-registration links for our testing site, but that is not the case. We currently do not have access to that system.”
Those that preregister for testing should bring their ticket with them to the testing site where the QR code will be scanned and will expedite them through the testing process. Individuals who are coming to BBPH for services unrelated to the testing events on Monday and Tuesday, are able to access the facility parking lot via Fifth Street and are asked to park near the north entrance.
For ongoing response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic, the North Dakota Department of Health has provided a COVID-19 Hotline to help answer questions. You may call 1-866-207-2880, Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Individuals needing medical advice should contact their healthcare provider.
