At approximately 12:40 P.M. on Friday, October 16, 2020 the Central Dakota Communications Center received multiple reports of a structure fire with heavy black smoke and flames showing at the 100 block of West Interstate Avenue. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched, along with the Bismarck Police Department and Metro Ambulance.
Upon arrival crews stated that they had heavy smoke showing from the third floor. Hose lines were advanced to the third floor apartment to extinguish the fire while additional crews were assigned to search the remainder of the building insuring all residents were out of the building.
There were no injuries to any civilians or fire personnel. All residents of the 12 unit apartment building have been displaced. The management company for the building was on scene assisting residence with temporary housing.
Per Bismarck Fire Department fire investigators, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Six fire department apparatus and eighteen firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control and investigation. Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide medical support should it be required. MDU was called to the scene to secure the utilities.
