At approximately 3:42 PM on Friday, January 8, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of smoke and fire in the garage of a duplex home located on the 2400 block of Hoover Avenue. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to investigate. The first arriving fire crew arrived on scene to find that the occupants had evacuated the home, and a fire in the garage.
The fire crew established command and used a handheld water extinguisher to put out a small fire in the garage An additional fire crew arrived on scene and assisted with securing utilities. After the fire was extinguished an overhaul operation was conducted to find any remaining hot spot, and fans were used to ventilate the house of smoke.
Three fire department apparatus and 6 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene. The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control. There were no injuries to any occupants or first responders. The occupants of the home were temporarily displaced. Fire damage was limited to one wall of the garage. There was smoke damage throughout the garage and to the interior of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
