Individuals aged 65 and older with or without health conditions, may now register for COVID-19 vaccine at clinics conducted by Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health (BBPH).
Individuals interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine can register through the online COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Form on the City of Bismarck’s website. Once individuals have completed the online COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Form, they will be contacted about setting up an appointment to receive the vaccine.
“Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health continues to work through the priority groups established by the North Dakota Department of Health,” said BBPH Director Renae Moch. “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we get vaccine in the arms of individuals wanting the vaccine. We understand this process is not happening as quickly as some would like, but we want to assure you that we are moving as fast as we can and hope to see you shortly at one of our upcoming vaccine events.”
If you are unable to complete the online form, please contact BBPH for assistance by emailing bbph@bismarcknd.gov or calling 701-355-1540 and selecting Option 1 to speak to a representative regarding COVID-19 vaccine. You must have an appointment to receive vaccine at a BBPH event. More information is available at https://bismarcknd.gov/2015/COVID-Vaccine-Info. Vaccine events are subject to change due to a range of factors, including, but not limited to, weather and vaccine availability.
COVID-19 vaccination is now available for anyone in Phase 1A (healthcare workers, first responders, long-term care residents and staff), as well as the following tiers in Phase 1B:
- Adults 75 and older
- Adults aged 65-74 with 2+ underlying conditions
- Other congregate setting residents and staff
- Adults aged 65-74 with 1 underlying condition
- Adults aged 65 and older with no underlying health conditions
Depending on the vaccine used during the clinic, individuals may need to return for a second round of vaccine 21 days (for the Pfizer vaccine) or 28 days (for the Moderna vaccine) later. Individuals receiving vaccination will be able to make their second-dose appointments while at the vaccine clinic. If the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is used at future vaccine clinics, this vaccine requires just one dose.
“Due to the recent emergence of a COVID-19 variant in the state, it is important that people don’t forget about those mitigation measures that have helped keep many individuals as safe as possible during a global pandemic,” said Moch. “That means continuing to practice physical distancing of at least six feet from other individuals who are not in your household, wearing a face covering if social distancing is not possible, washing your hands with soap often or using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces and monitoring your health daily for potential COVID-19 symptoms.”
For ongoing response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic, the North Dakota Department of Health has established a COVID-19 Hotline to help answer your questions. You may call 1-866-207-2880, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with questions. Please note that individuals seeking specific medical advice should contact their healthcare provider.
