The City of Bismarck, Bismarck Public Schools and Bismarck Parks and Recreation District have joined forces to hire Claire Lowstuter as Local Foods Coordinator.
Lowstuter has been hired to coordinate local foods efforts, including working with BisMarket to develop and increase their online presence and logistics, to assist Bismarck Public Schools’ Farm-to-School Program by researching possibilities of providing more locally grown foods in school meals, and to partner with Go! Bismarck Mandan and Bismarck Parks and Recreation District to oversee the growth and advancement of food related programs.
This position is the result of three government entities and local partners collaborating to expand and elevate the importance and impact of locally grown foods. This is the first and only position of its kind in North Dakota.
Lowstuter has experience working with local foods, producers, gardeners and extension services. She has a degree in Natural Resources Recreation and Tourism from Colorado State University. She can be reached at clowstuter@bisparks.org.
