Bismarck Mayor Steve Bakken is looking for candidates interested in serving on the Special Assessment Commission, a three-member board appointed by the City Commissioners. The volunteer committee has one open position. This position is open to any member of the Bismarck community with some financial background and not subject to property ownership conditions. The position is a new term through April 2027. Interested applicants should complete an application form describing their qualifications, background and why they would like to serve on the Commission. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, March 30, 2021. It is anticipated that the new board member will be announced at the April 13, 2021, Board of City Commissioners’ meeting. The Special Assessment Commission's job is to make sure the assessments are spread fairly among properties, not whether the work should be done.
