Applications Sought for Board of Adjustment 

 

Bismarck Mayor Steve Bakken is looking for candidates interested in serving on the Bismarck Board of Adjustment as a Board Member.  The volunteer committee has two open positions, which are 3-year terms, with the potential for one of the positions to be on an as-needed basis.  Anyone residing in the City of Bismarck or the City’s extraterritorial area is eligible for this appointment.


Interested applicants should complete an application form describing their qualifications, background and why they would like to serve on the Authority. Complete applications should be sent to:

Forms can also be mailed to perspective applicants by calling the Community Development Department at (701) 355-1840 or may be picked up at the department office at 221 N 5th Street, Bismarck.  Additional information on the position and the appointment process can also be obtained by contacting the department office.


The deadline for applications is by the end of the day on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. It is anticipated that the new Authority members will be announced at the May 25, 2021 meeting of the Board of City Commissioners.


The Board of Adjustment is a six-member board appointed by the Bismarck City Commission to decide appeals from an order, requirement or determination made by an administrative official of the City of Bismarck. The Board of Adjustment is empowered to make interpretations and grant variances related to zoning regulations.


The Board of Adjustment meets the first Thursday of every month at 5:00 p.m. in the City-County Building, 221 N 5th Street, Bismarck.
