At approximately 02:51 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of a deck and the back of a house on fire in the 1000 block of Crescent Lane, in Bismarck. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to investigate. The first arriving fire crew arrived on scene to find heavy smoke showing from a two-story single-family dwelling. The occupants had evacuated and were attempting to extinguish the fire on the back of the house.

Additional fire crews arrived on scene and assisted with establishing a water supply, pulling additional hose lines, securing utilities, pulling ceilings, and attacking the attic fire from the interior. When the fire was extinguished an overhaul operation was conducted to find any remaining smoldering materials.
Six fire department apparatus and 18 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene. The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control. MDU assisted with securing utilities. Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide medical support. The Crisis Care Chaplaincy was called to the scene to provide support. There were no injuries to the occupants or first responders. The home was occupied at the time of the fire and suffered significant fire damage to the attic space. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
