[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to a deck fire

Residential Fire Update

At approximately 5:14 PM on Monday July 5, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of a grill and deck on fire in the 1700 block of Rosser Avenue, in Bismarck. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to investigate. The first arriving fire crew arrived on scene to find fire showing from a deck, spreading to the house and large tree over the deck. The home was occupied at the time of the fire and occupants had evacuated the home. 

 

The fire crew established command, deployed hose lines, and began an aggressive fire attack.  Additional fire crew arrived on scene and assisted with establishing a water supply, assisted with fire attack and checking for fire extension.  When the fire was extinguished an overhaul operation was conducted to find any remaining smoldering materials.

 

Six fire department apparatus and 17 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene.  The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control. Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide medical support. The deck and siding suffered fire damage, but the occupants was able to return. The cause of the fire was a malfunctioning grill.
