Bismarck City Elections 2022

The Bismarck City Election will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in conjunction with the State Primary Election at the polling places and times established by Burleigh County.  


In 2022, the following officers will be elected and serve terms of four (4) years each:


One (1) Mayor

Two (2) Members of The Board of City Commissioners

Three (3) Members of The Board of Park Commissioners

Candidates may start collecting signatures Saturday, January 1, 2022, from any person who is a qualified elector and a resident of the City of Bismarck. Candidates are required to file a Petition of Nomination (SFN 02704) with at least 300 signatures, an Affidavit of Candidate (SFN 02703), Statement of Candidacy and a Statement of Interests (SFN 10172).   Forms are available on the ND Secretary of State’s web site, https://vip.sos.nd.gov/pdfs/Portals/running-city.pdf or by contacting the City Administrator’s Office at 701-355-1300.      


Candidates for city offices are required to collect 300 signatures from any person who is a qualified elector and a City of Bismarck resident. The Petition/Certification of Nomination as well as the Statement of Interest form must be filed with the Bismarck City Administration by 4:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2022. Election administrators suggest collecting up to 350 signatures and turning in petitions at least one day before the deadline since some signatures may be eliminated for not being valid city residents.


Notice:  Only complete addresses are accepted.  Post Office boxes are not considered a valid address.
