[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Launches 150th Anniversary Scavenger Hunt

BISMARCK, ND – The City of Bismarck is launching a 150th Anniversary History & Mystery Scavenger Hunt. The hunt is powered by Yondar, an interactive map that allows visitors to explore our community (and our world) using augmented reality wayfinding. Scavenger hunts will be available at six (6) anniversary events to be held throughout the year:

ND State Capitol: May 14

Camp Hancock Summer Opening: May 28

Heritage River Landing Grand Opening: July 16 (Tentative)

Former Governor’s Mansion Ice Cream Social: August 14

UTTC International Powwow: September 9-11

Downtown Street Fair: September 16-17

Utilizing the capabilities of smartphones, Yondar will guide explorers to beacons at each of the participating events. Once a user visits all the beacons, a Golden Ticket pickup location will be revealed. Bismarck residents and visitors can collect a Golden Ticket at each event, which will serve as an entry into a grand prize drawing this September during the Downtown Street Fair.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to launch this innovative, high-tech experience for Bismarck residents and visitors,” said Mayor Steve Bakken. Our theme for this year’s anniversary is “150 years of Tradition and Innovation” and this platform fits perfectly by providing an innovative way to explore the countless historical sites around the city.”

“Using Yondar is both fun and easy. Users simply visit a URL and view nearby points of interest called ‘beacons.’ Users can also invite their friends into the same map view to privately share locations and stay connected at outdoor events and attractions, said Zander Mabin, InnovatAR Founder and CEO.
