BISMARCK, N.D. – The City of Bismarck and Bismarck Public Works are celebrating National Public Works Week, May 15-22, 2022, in collaboration with the North Dakota American Public Works Association (APWA). Public Works Week honors the contributions public works professionals make to their communities.
Within every public works professional lies a superhero. Public works professionals are always READY to serve their communities, and RESILIENT and resourceful as ever in their abilities to rise to the occasion when encountering challenges.
The "Ready and Resilient" theme highlights the ability of these professionals to perform regular public works duties and be ready at a moment's notice to react as first responders during natural disasters and overcome trials seen in the field. Jeff Heintz and Michelle Klose, Public Works Directors of Service and Utilities Operations, both remarked, “All of our Public Works employees are ready 24/7/365 to react to any issue that affects our infrastructure and citizens of Bismarck. From blizzards to water main breaks, traffic signal outages to treatment plant troubleshooting, our people continue to impress us with their dedication, knowledge, and commitment to public service.”
Public works superheroes help keep communities strong by providing an infrastructure of services that includes roads, water, wastewater treatment and distribution systems and stormwater treatment; fleet services, public buildings and spaces, traffic signals and street lighting, forestry, emergency management and first response, solid waste and right-of-way management. They are what make our communities great places to live and work. Please join us in celebrating these superheroes during Public Works Week.
