Bismarck Mayor Mike Schmitz is looking for candidates interested in service on the Special Assessment Commission, a three-member board appointed by the City Commissioners. The volunteer committee has one open position, which is a 6-year term through April 2029. This position is open to any member of the Bismarck community with some financial background and not subject to property ownership conditions. Interested applicants should complete an application form describing their qualifications, background and why they would like to serve on the Commission. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, March 14, 2023. It is anticipated that the new board member will be announced at the March 28, 2023, Board of City Commissioners’ meeting. The Special Assessment Committee is a three-member board appointed by the City Commissioners. The Special Assessment Commission’s job is to make sure the assessments are spread fairly among properties, not whether the work should be done.
The Special Assessment Committee meets twice a year at the City-County Office Building, 221 N 5th Street, Bismarck.
