Bike & Roll to School Day is a national observance that celebrates the joy of active commuting while building a sense of community. Whether addressing the need to make routes to school safer for active trips or encouraging children and teens to be more active, these events can be powerful tools to inspire lasting change. Of course, they are also fun!
Biking all or part of the way to school is an excellent opportunity to add physical activity to your day. Physical activity is not only good for our bodies, but it also helps students concentrate and learn! Children of all ages are encouraged to participate in 60 minutes of physical activity each day. It is fun, easy to do, and free. If you live too far away from the school, consider parking a few blocks away and riding your bike the rest of the way.
While May 3 is this year’s official date, students are welcome to celebrate any days in May that best fit their schedules. For more information about Bike & Roll to School Day, visit https://www.walkbiketoschool.org/.
