BISMARCK, ND—The Bismarck Historical Society will be hosting a historical program on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, this time at Hanger 6C at the Bismarck Airport. The presentation begins at 6:30 PM. A tour of the historic Hanger 5 will be available following the program.
The topic of this presentation is “Planes of the Past – A Look Back at Bismarck’s Iconic ‘Hangar 5’ and Some of the Aircraft that Traveled Through Bismarck Prior to World War II”. The presenter for the event, Jim Christianson, will provide a photographic history of early general aviation at the Bismarck Airport, including Hangar 5, which is scheduled for demolition in 2024. The PowerPoint presentation will include dozens of photos and descriptions of aircraft that made their way to the Bismarck Airport in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
The presentation is offered at no cost. Attendees are asked to enter the parking area off Highway 1804 / University Drive using Maverick Drive and travel north along Eclipse Way.
