Parking will be limited for the Sunday Sandbag Throw Down event at Sandbag Central South (Northern Plains Commerce Center, 1901 Northern Plains Drive) in Bismarck, so residents are asked to “Catch the CAT” bus at the SE corner of Kirkwood Mall by JC Penney. About 1,000 residents are needed tomorrow from noon to 6 pm to fill 400,000 sandbags for dike maintenance.
Also, residents CANNOT pick up sandbags at that location tomorrow. They can get filled sandbags or fill sandbags themselves at the other two centers located at Sandbag Central North (Missouri Valley Fairgrounds, 3805 E. Bismarck Expressway) and Sandbag Charlie (521 South 22nd Street).
The Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce has organized tomorrow’s event, which will include music and food. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, shovels and sunscreen. There will be 2 spider machines on hand and giant piles of sand for those willing to shovel.
