The North Dakota National Guard and the Bismarck Fire Department collaborated on helicopter familiarization training to help first responders safely and effectively assist in helicopter emergencies.
The training focused on how to access the helicopter's fuel and power shutoffs, what components to open or remove, and how to safely remove pilots and passengers in case of a crash or emergency landing. Firefighters were able to get hands-on experience and learn directly from National Guard personnel.
This kind of joint training helps us respond faster and more safely in emergencies, as well as build a strong working relationship with the National Guard.
